A very dark hour in Gaza

January 7, 2009

Where do you find the words to describe the atrocious bombing of the UN school in Gaza? In The Independent, that’s where. Robert Fisk writes powerfully about past Israeli massacres of Palestinian civilians and the lies that will be trotted out to cover up this shameful killing. (I heard some of them from an Israeli major on Channel 4 news last night.)
It would be nice to think that our outrage and support can be heard by the Palestinians, but under fire, without electricity, running water and with food in short supply, I doubt many of them are surfing the web looking for words of comfort.
I can only hope that this is the darkest hour and that the dawn is coming as swiftly as possible.
