Every year one in ten women in Britain experiences rape or other violence…
Sunday is International Women’s Day and in the run-up to the big day, Amnesty is drawing attention to the statistic above – and to the fact that one in four local authorities leaves female victims of violence without the specialised support that they need.
There are a couple of simple things you can do to help spread the word and press for change.
At 1:10 on Friday, March 6th update your Facebook, Myspace or Twitter status to read:
Each year, 1 in 10 women in Britain experience rape or other violence. Act now. http://www.oneten.org.uk.
On Twitter, change your profile picture to Amnesty’s avatar and use #1in10 to spread the message.
If you don’t do Facebook, then do visit the Map of Gaps where you can see which services are missing in your local area and email your MP, asking them to do something to sort it out.
