Books to make the world a better place
Well, you could argue that all books do this of course, but I am talking specifically about Ox-Tales, the new collection of Oxfam short stories which will go on sale on 4 July. The four volumes of stories feature fiction loosely based on themes that link with Oxfam’s work: Earth (agricultural development); Air (climate change); Fire (conflict) and Water (water delivery).
Authors who have contributed include John le Carre, Mark Haddon, Jeanette Winterson, Alexander McCall Smith, A L Kennedy, Ian Rankin, Kate Atkinson and Zoe Heller.
Each paperback volume costs £5 each – with all royalties supporting Oxfam’s work (that’s about £3.50 per book going off to do good deeds). You will be able to buy Ox-Tales from Oxfam shops and leading bookstores from 4 July – or you can pre-order now from Oxfam.
