Some people are gay. Get over it!

Captain Jack (John Barrowman) and Ianto (Gareth David-Lloyd) kiss like it's the end of the world (which it might be...) in Torchwood.

My eye has been taken over the past week by the rash of articles marking the 20 years since Stonewall was formed, but it took that particularly passionate snog between Captain Jack and Ianto on Torchwood last night to remind me to blog about it. Blimey, it was a corker! (I know the kiss on the right isn’t from Children of Earth – but it’s still pretty passionate, right?)

Anyway, sad to say that Stonewall’s work is not yet done. Homophobia means there are gay, lesbian and bi-sexual people in the world who are not happy in their own skin. You can support Stonewall with a donation, you can buy a fabulous T-shirt (Some people are gay. Get over it!) or you can join them on Facebook or Twitter.

I met a gay man on a course lately, talking about his time in the Royal Navy and how he had to end his career because in the ’80s being gay in the Forces was a no-no and quite dangerous if outed. He left because he couldn’t stand being with fit men all day long…in close quarters on ships! Don’t blame him! What a shame tho. I’m glad times have changed, improved etc.

    Hi Shauna

Shame there’s still such a long way to go though! So many straight men are still so squeamish about two men kissing, let alone anything more … avant garde, as the lovely Ianto would say. Odd that those same men don’t hold the same prejudice about same-sex relationships between women eh? (IMHO, not generalising to all straight men, etc!)

PS – really like your blog!
