A good day to buy The Independent

December 2, 2009

Those of a liberal persuasion probably buy The Independent or The Guardian anyway – but if you’re usually too busy to read a whole paper and so don’t bother, make an exception today (2nd December). You will be able to read about the plight of Nobel-nominated activist Aminatou Haidar, who is on hunger-strike in Lanzarote airport in protest at what she sees as her forced exile by Morocco. You can also learn about Ron Paul ‘and his radical brand of libertarianism’ – leave Iran alone, legalise drugs, say no to bailing out Wall Street’s fat cats…

You can read about Bob Geldof’s recent trip to Ethiopia and the real progress that’s been made – some of which IS thanks to Band Aid. And you can read the paper’s Guide to Climate Change.

Normally, of course, I would give you a link to any one of these stories, to make it easy for you to read such fascinating journalism, but with so much to digest it seems to me you should just buy the paper for one day! It will be a pound well-spent…
